CB750F: Day 30: Even More Reassembly

Got a few things done tonight all it won’t look it.Here is my work list:

  • Chain adjustment: Hooked up the rear brake mount point first. Got play to 20mm within acceptable range of 15-20mm. Tightened rear axel bolt to spec 65 ft/lb, twice, and checked again and the slack is fine. Adjusted rear wheel adjustment to be the same on each side by eye, and then verified with a ruler, 35mm each. Installed cotter pin. Adjusted view photo at end.

  • Rear brake caliper reinstall and new brake pads: Uncapped the rear master cylinder, covered surrounding area in towels, and squeezed the caliper back with a channel lock; be careful easy to scratch the brake caliper body and also spill brake fluid. The new brake pads only fit one way; be careful to include the stabilizers on the pads and also on the caliper body itself up underneath. Verified things were seated right, torqued the bolts to 150 in/lb twice, and installed a cotter ping on the brake mount point. I stared at those pads a lot before torquing them down to be sure it was seated correctly.
