Exporting org-mode documents to HTML offers 3 styles for navigating the exported document. Those styles are listed here.
You may be pleasantly surprised by the “info” style view.

Good tip!
I find the default line length to be unreadable so I add something like this:
#+HTML_HEAD_EXTRA: body{margin-left:50px; width:60%;}
I’ll tinker with the CSS at a later date to do something a little more elegant, but even this little tweak makes the pages far more readable…..
