Tonight I noticed a little puddle under the tip of the front cowling on my Connie:

Gas tank rust repaired
Somehow I managed to purchase my Connie without noticing a little rust spot on the gas tank. You might say I was blinded by love? Whatever the case, it needed to be repaired.

Exhaust Pipe Rust Repaired
Saturday afternoon I use diet cola and aluminum foil to clean the rust off of the chrome exhaust pipes. Yes, diet cola and aluminum foil.

Windshield Bolts Replaced
On Saturday night I replaced the windshield bolts. A couple of them were missing, and the other problem was that some of the bolts were the wrong size. For safety, it is better to have them be stock and complete.
Ready for Service
Yesterday I got the Clymer’s service manual in the mail from Murph’s, so with the Kawasaki service manual already in handy I’m ready for servicing my bike!
Installed tailbrights on my Connie
Buck Sport Touring sells reflective stickers called Tailbrights that stick to the rear and side portions of the hard bags. Tonight I installed them. Installation was pretty simple; only had one or two bubbles on each of the stickers. I guess that you could make these yourself; but Buck Sport figured out the right shape, and I like to support companies that fill a niche like they do. The cool thing about them is that the stickers are black; so during the day you don’t even see them.

Welcome New Connie Owners

- Change hypoid oil
- Change coolant
- General inspection & safety check
- Perform the 6200m maintenance schedule
- Odometer: 6491 miles
I love my M.U.T.T.
Last Friday I took my first real ride on the bike. It was a lot of fun. Riding a bike with a 10k redline was also a new experience for me which made it fun. Honestly, it was sort of shocking to me, the engine seemed to have 3 moods:
- Meditating
- Purring
- Roaring!
I wondered where the engine should live for normal cruising, and Dale explained that where it seems happy, it is happy. Great. I can’t wait to get back out again to spend some time with my M.U.T.T. Who is M.U.T.T?
As Dan explained… the “Monster Under The Tank”!
