Mid Term Probability Update

In the first half of the semester in the Probability course I am taking we learned (among other things) how to, given the probability distribution function for any distribution, derive, if possible, the:

Everyone seems to be excited about the second half of the semester when we will start building on this foundation.

  1. I was just talking with a colleague today how important are Discrete Math, Combinatorics and Probability to computer scientists. In the last two decades, understanding probability has become ever more vital since there is continuing development of probabilistic algorithms.
Where are you taking your course in Probability? I’m glad everyone is excited.

  2. Hi Geoff:
I’m taking it at Marquette University. It is part of their new Computational Sciences program.
